Indications of Cefepime Hydrochloride for Injection:
Cefepime Hydrochloride for injection can be used as a treatment for patients (including adults and children aged 2 months up to 16 years old) with moderate infection to severe infections, including lower respiratory tract infections (pneumonia and bronchitis), uncomplicated lower urinary tract infections and complicated urinary tract infections (including pyelonephritis), uncomplicated skin and soft tissue infections, complicated intra-abdominal infections (including peritonitis and infections of the biliary tract), gynecologic infections, septicemia, and empiric treatment in febrile neutropenia.
Cefepime Hydrochloride for injection can also be used for treating bacterial cerebrospinal meningitis in children.
When a bacterial infection is suspected, bacterial culture and drug sensitive test should be conducted. As a kind of fungicide featuring broad spectrum activity against both gram positive and gram negative bacteria, Cefepime can be used as monotherapy before the sensitivity test result coming out.
When suspected to have mixed anaerobic infection, a combined therapy between Cefepime Hydrochloride and anti-anaerobic agents (such as metronidazole) is recommended for initial management. Once the bacterial culture and drug sensitive test results were announced, it is time to adjust treatment regimen.
Cefepime Injection is a cephalosporin antibiotic indicated in the treatment of the following infections caused by susceptible strains of the designated microorganisms: pneumonia; empiric therapy for febrile neutropenic patients; uncomplicated and complicated urinary tract infections; uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections; and complicated intra-abdominal infections (used in combination with metronidazole)
